Largest Company end of July?
Nvidia remains the clear favorite to finish July 31 as the largest company in the world, but the lead is not so large that Apple’s late-month earnings cannot matter. I’m a bit less bullish than the market because one strong Apple print or a sharp AI-trade selloff could still change the ranking.
Analysis
As of July 11, Nvidia is still the world’s largest public company by market cap at about $5.15 trillion, ahead of Apple at about $4.64 trillion and Alphabet at about $4.33 trillion. That means Nvidia’s lead over Apple is roughly $502 billion, or about 10.8%, which is a meaningful cushion for a three-week horizon but not an unassailable one. In other words, the market does not need a catastrophic move for the ranking to change; it only needs a sizeable relative swing in either Nvidia or Apple.
The latest company-specific information still favors Nvidia. Its most recent quarterly release showed $44.1 billion of revenue, 69% year-over-year growth, and very strong data-center demand, while management said global demand for AI infrastructure remains extremely strong and guided to about $45 billion of revenue for the next quarter despite the H20 China export limitation. Nvidia’s newsroom over the past week has also stayed very active with updates around Vera Rubin, Nemotron, GeForce NOW, and broader AI infrastructure messaging, which keeps the market focused on Nvidia as the center of the AI capex trade.
The biggest counterweight is timing. Apple is scheduled to report Q3 2026 results on July 30, which is the closest major scheduled catalyst before the July 31 close, so a strong beat-and-raise from Apple could compress the gap right before resolution. I still think the most likely outcome is that Nvidia holds the top spot, but the market looks a touch too confident at 92.5% because the current lead is large, not enormous, and a single late-month earnings reaction can still move a company of this size by hundreds of billions of dollars.
Arguments
For
- Nvidia starts with a roughly $502 billion lead over Apple, so Apple would need an unusually strong move or Nvidia would need a sharp pullback to change the ranking.
- Nvidia’s latest quarter still showed 69% year-over-year revenue growth and management emphasized surging AI infrastructure demand, which supports continued market leadership.
- Nvidia’s recent newsroom flow has stayed intensely positive, reinforcing the idea that the company remains the market’s primary AI infrastructure name.
Against
- Apple’s July 30 earnings release is the main scheduled catalyst before month-end, and a strong report could quickly narrow the gap.
- Nvidia is already carrying a very large valuation, so even a modest percentage decline would erase a huge amount of market cap.
- Nvidia’s last quarter included a large China-related export-control charge, so any renewed policy headline could hit sentiment fast.
Key drivers
- The relative stock performance of NVDA versus AAPL over the next three weeks will almost entirely determine the outcome.
- Apple’s July 30 earnings reaction is the single most important scheduled catalyst before the July 31 close.
- Investor appetite for AI infrastructure leaders has to remain intact for Nvidia to keep its lead.
Risk factors
- A strong Apple earnings beat on July 30 is the cleanest path to a last-minute flip in the ranking.
- A broad tech rotation or an Nvidia-specific export-control headline could compress Nvidia’s valuation quickly.
- Because the gap is only a bit over 10% of Apple’s market cap, ordinary late-month volatility is enough to make this event less than certain.
Scenarios
Best case
Nvidia keeps benefiting from the AI infrastructure trade, Apple’s July 30 results are solid but not explosive, and Nvidia closes July 31 still comfortably ahead.
Most likely
Nvidia remains the largest company at month-end, but Apple’s earnings and the market’s late-July volatility narrow the lead noticeably.
Worst case
Apple delivers a sharp upside surprise on July 30 or Nvidia sells off on valuation or policy concerns, allowing Apple to overtake Nvidia by the July 31 close.

Will a cabinet member be impeached?
AI97%MKT5%Edge+92Hidden Gem**Very likely Yes.** A sitting Cabinet member (Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte) is already being tried in the Senate impeachment court, which in the Philippines follows a House impeachment — so the factual threshold for “impeached” has effectively been met and the probability of at least one Cabinet member being impeached before 2027 is extremely high.

"Evil Dead Burn" Opening Weekend Box Office (Lower Brackets)
AI8%MKT93%Edge-85HypedI think the chance that Evil Dead Burn opens below $16M is quite low, roughly 8%. The latest tracking and franchise comparisons point much closer to the mid-20Ms than the teens.

Best AI model on July 18?
AI13%MKT92%Edge-79HypedI think claude-opus-4-6-thinking is a clear underdog here. It is currently near the top of the leaderboard, but it is not the leader today, and the latest frontier releases make it more likely to stay around second or third than to reclaim first.
